Betty Lee Story, age 84, of Erwin, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Erwin, Betty is a daughter of the late William “Bill” and Mae (Hilton) Lockner. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed gardening and flowers.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by one son, Larry Story; 3 sisters: Lena Williford, Jackie Hughes and Rosie Lockner; 2 brothers: Steve Lockner and Stanley Lockner. Betty Lee Story leaves behind to cherish her memory: Loving husband and best friend of 67 years: Walter Story, of Erwin; Sons: Andy Story and wife Connie, of Erwin, Earl Story, of Erwin; Daughter: Brenda Tittle and husband, Clinton, of Erwin; Sister: Susie Miller and husband, Charlie; Daughter-in-law: Sheila Story; Grandchildren: Todd Story and wife, April, Andrew Story and wife, Jerrica, Kerri Tomlinson and Thomas, Wayne Story, Andrea Viles and husband, Phillip, Jenny Shelton and husband, Tim, Brandy Dunbar and husband, Anthony, April Marotta and husband, Ethan, Matthew Tittle; Step-grandchildren: Dwayne Tipton, Tracie Metcalf, Jodi Tolley; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; Special cousins: Rusty Miller, Shirley Miller; Many nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Sycamore Shoals Hospital for their loving care during this difficult time.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Betty Lee Story in a funeral to be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, May 10, 2019 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Kevin Laws and Reverend Russell Wheeler will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM on Friday, May 10, 2019 and will continue until service time.

A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 11, 2019 in Bumpass Cove Cemetery. Those attending will meet at Bumpass Cove Cemetery by 10:50 AM for the service. Serving as active pallbearers will be: Marty Higgins, Jed Casey, Garrett Shelton, Dain Horn, Wayne Story, Rusty Miller, Matthew Tittle and Tim Shelton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Dunbar and Ethan Marotta. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family and viewed at www.
