Betty’s Obituary Betty Inman Pate, age 78, of Lumberton, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. She was born on February 12, 1940, in Bladen County to the late Hammie H. Inman and the late Addie Ruvella Cook Inman. She was employed as a jailer for Robeson County Sheriff’s Department until retirement.

Mrs. Pate has been a long-time member of Smyrna Baptist Church and was also active at Orrum Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John “Bose” Farrell Pate; one daughter, Brenda Lee Pate; six brothers: Eddie Inman, Nathan Inman, W.H. Inman, Harvey Inman, Albert Inman, and Robert Inman; three sisters: Lessie Thompson, Ruby Dawson, and Elizabeth Inman. Mrs. Pate is survived by her children: Michael Pate and wife Jennifer and Marie Pate Henderson and husband Gary, all of Lumberton; eight grandchildren: Jonathan, Hannah Marie, Rebecca, Garron, Hannah, Sydney, Jenna, and Hudson; two great-grandchildren: Mason and Cohen; three brothers, Woodrow Inman of Hope Mills, Danny Inman of Shallotte, and Nathan Davis of Hope Mills; three sisters: Susie Connors of Kernsville, Mary Lee of St. Pauls, and Ann Pate of Lumberton; and a special family to Grandma Betty: Macie, Kelli, Bobby, and Pat Maring.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday, February 4, 2019, from 1:30-3:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held in the chapel at 3:00 PM with Pastor Gary Henderson and Pastor Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern North Carolina, 3739 National Drive, Suite 110, Raleigh, NC 27612.
