Obituary for Betty Ruth Fox FORT WORTH – Betty Ruth Cardwell Fox, 87, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018. Betty was born on Feb. 10, 1931, in Clinton, Tennessee to Thomas and Mazie Cardwell.

Betty graduated from Texas Christian University in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in education and in 1976 with a master’s degree in education. She taught science at J.P. Elder and Stripling middle schools in Fort Worth for 27 years. During this time she started night classes at the University of North Texas in Denton to obtain her doctorate in education.

Betty was a member of First United Methodist in Fort Worth. She was an avid gardener and reader, enjoyed classical music and the local museums, loved to sew and was extremely proud of her three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Dewey Fox; and her only son, John David Fox.

Survivors: Two daughters, Ramona Gregory and husband, Ian and Kimberly Matthys; three grandchildren, John Matthys and wife, Christi, Cameron Gregory and wife, Erin and Madison Gregory; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Gregory and Quinn Gregory.
