Bettye Forrest Barrett, 75, of Augusta, GA, died Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the Azalea Health and Rehabilitation Center in Augusta. She was born in Abbeville, SC to the late Tom Barrett and Kathleen Loftis Barrett. Ms. Barrett was a 1961 graduate of Abbeville High School.

She was a humanitarian having great affection for the homeless. The highlights of her life were hours spent enjoying gardening, flowers, creative writing and animals, especially cats and dogs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Bussell; a brother, Morris Barrett; and a grandson, Dakota Dutton.

Ms. Barrett is survived by three sons, Gene Bussell, Patrick Bussell and Tom Barrett; a daughter, Sherrye Bussell; two brothers, Olin Barrett of Abbeville, SC and Bradley Barrett of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Doris Tynsky of Oklahoma and Lavinia ‘Tiny’ Davis (Horace), of Elberton, GA; three grandchildren, Travis Franklin, Krystin Franklin, Colton Dutton and three great-grandchildren; also, numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 3:00PM, Sunday, May 27, 2018 in Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 698 Mount Carmel Road, Abbeville, SC 29620 with Rev. James Long officiating.
