Obituary of Betty Stoner Betty Lou Stoner was born on October 29, 1930, in Barnumton, MO to Hezekiah and Lena (Canfield) Hix. On September 30, 2018, at the age of 87 years, she fell asleep in her home at Macks Creek and woke up in heaven, Betty grew up in Camden County. She made a profession of faith as a young woman and was faithful in her service to Christ.
She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Macks Creek. She married Oval Stoner on July 6, 1947. Together they had four children and three grandchildren and were married 62 years before Oval’s death in 2009.
As newlyweds they moved to Oregon to find work in fruit harvesting and logging. Betty was always a hard worker. When they returned to Missouri, Oval enrolled in college and she worked several jobs to support their growing family.
In 1949, they purchased acreage north of Macks Creek, where they worked side-by-side to build a home using timber they had cleared from their own land. Oval became a teacher and Betty continued working as needed while taking care of her family. She retired from Modine in the mid ‘90s.
Oval later began suffering from dementia and she faithfully took care of him at home for over a decade. Betty liked going to church, reading, sewing, fishing, gardening, traveling, and spending time with family. She was a regular at Macks Creek Senior Center and made many friends there.
She was an avid supporter of Medical Missions for Christ Clinic and liked helping with fundraisers, especially Trivia Challenge.
