Beverly Ann Lind, 85, of Fargo, North Dakota, formerly of Grafton, North Dakota, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at Eventide Fargo. Beverly Ann Sperry was born October 11, 1933 in Minot, North Dakota to Melvin and Lillian Sperry. She grew up on a farm near Hamilton, North Dakota, the youngest of three children.

Beverly loved to tell stories about riding horses, singing to her cows, and roller skating from the farm to Cavalier. She attended school in Pembina. Beverly was a loving caregiver throughout her life.

As a young woman, she worked at the State School for the Blind in Bathgate. She also worked at Unity Hospital and the State Developmental Center in Grafton. Beverly was a mother to four children: Patricia, Wayne, Veronica, and Julie.

She married the love of her life, Merle Lind, on June 4, 1966. Beverly and Merle resided in Grafton for 41 years, before moving to Fargo to be closer to family in 2007. She passed away under the loving care of Eventide Fargo and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Beverly was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She rarely missed a hockey, football, basketball, or volleyball game. She loved bowling and bingo.

She was an avid gardener and decorator, and her house was well-known throughout town for having the best Halloween decorations. She was a skilled fisherwoman, and enjoyed many years fishing on Lake of the Woods. Beverly was also a dominant player of Pinochle, International Rummy, and Yahtzee.

She had a beautiful presence and lit up rooms with her sense of humor. Her great-granddaughter reports that she was a GREAT great-grandmother. Beverly’s memory will be cherished by Merle, her husband of 52 years; daughter Patricia (Frank) Vavrosky; granddaughter Tara (Neil) Iversen and great-grandchildren Eleanor and Beatrix; grandson Jared Vavrosky (Amanda Samdahl); and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Sperry and Lillian Sperry Beyer and step-father Alfred Beyer; brother Arnold (Catherine) Beyer; sister Dorothy (Thayle) Edwards; infant children Wayne and Veronica, and daughter Julie Hartje. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at 3:30 pm at Liberty Lutheran Church, 1702 32nd Avenue South, Fargo, North Dakota, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Grafton Lutheran Cemetery, in Grafton, North Dakota.
