Beverly Sewell Wood, 81, was born in Decatur, Illinois on September 9, 1936, the daughter of Forest W. (Bo) and Phyllis Wood, and entered heaven’s gates on April 24, 2018. She is survived by her son Robert Sewell, Jr. and his wife Vicki of Saint Louis, MO; her daughter Ramah Hawley and her husband Robert of River Edge, NJ; 5 cherished grandchildren, James Hawley, Rachel Hawley, Kai Sewell, Karli Sewell, and Keliana Sewell; former husband, Robert Sewell, Sr. of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Mattoon,… Read More » IL; brother Gordon Wood; 2 sisters Elaine Hansen and Marilyn Logan; brother-in-law James Logan; and many treasured nieces, nephews, and cousins. Beverly is now reunited with her adoring partner of many years, Roger Mooers, who preceded her in death.

A proud Sigma Sigma Sigma, Beverly received her Bachelor of Education degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1958 and enjoyed a varied work and volunteer career as a teacher, hospitality associate, Girl Scout Leader, and mystery shopper. From her beloved hometown of Sullivan, IL, she relocated many times, to Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Utah, Nevada, and Missouri, making many dear friends along the way. Beverly will best be remembered for her fun-loving spirit, sense of adventure, love for her family, and as a life-long fan of the Chicago Bears.

Memorial services in celebration of Beverly’s long and happy life will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, 503 W Jackson St, Sullivan, IL 61951. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
