Bill’s Obituary Alfred William Diedrich (Bill) of Marshall, Oklahoma was born February 17, 1936 in Enid, Oklahoma to Carl Fredrick Diedrich and Elizabeth Louise (Camp) Diedrich. He was raised and attended school in Marshall, graduating from Marshall High School in 1954. Bill went to ministry school in Elmhurst, Illinois, worked miscellaneous jobs before joining the United States Navy.

Bill proudly served our country aboard the USS Intrepid (aircraft carrier), USS Bremerton CA-130 (cruiser), HEU 1 (landing craft), USS LY Spear (sub tender) and USS Detroit (combat support). Bill was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia and retired from the Navy after honorably serving for 20 years. In 1977, Bill moved his family back to his beloved hometown of Marshall, Oklahoma where he spent the remainder of his time until he passed from this life on February 8, 2019.

Bill loved his family, Marshall Lions Club, pitching horse shoes, bowling, fishing and all things sports related. Bill especially enjoyed the Chicago Cubs and after being a fan for 60 plus years, he got to see them end a 108-year World Series drought in 2016. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Estalee Fordyce, Thelma Ficken, Evadean Huffer, and Doyle Diedrich.

He was also preceded by two children: Sherry and Claude Diedrich. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Delores Juanita Diedrich; sons: Terry Diedrich of Orlando, FL; Jason Diedrich of Newport News, VA; Alfred William Diedrich (Bill) Jr. of Tulsa, OK and Joe Smith of Weleetka, OK. He is also survived by one sibling: J.C. Diedrich of Marshall, OK.

and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and other family members. Bill had a part in raising and loving many people from his blended families. Bill’s ancestors have a long history with St. Paul’s United Church of Christ where he was a member.

The family request that donations be made to the church in lieu of flowers. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Marshall with Pastor Dan Thinell officiating. Burial will follow in the South Marshall Lions Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent.
