OBITUARY Billy M. Dickerson Jr. January 4, 1952 – July 14, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Billy Melvin Dickerson, Jr., went to be with the Lord July 14, 2018. He is preceded in death by his Parents Billy Melvin Dickerson, Sr and Mildred Anita and In-Laws James Howard Burk and Willa Dean. He is survived by his Wife of 48 years Nancy Lizbeth (Burk) Dickerson.
Children; Son -Billy James Dickerson and wife Cynthia of Mabank TX, Daughter – Lizbeth (Deannie) Hussey and Husband Weldon of Combine, TX, Son – Thomas Dickerson and Wife Brooke of Crandall, TX, Son – Cody Clyde Dickerson and Wife Robie of Kemp, TX, Daughter – Sarah Marek and Husband Jerremy of Crandall, TX, Son – Julian Dickerson of Corsicana, TX, Daughter- Gabby McClure and Husband Billy of Corsicana, TX, Son- William Dickerson of Columbia, Missouri, Son – Johnathan Dickerson and wife Amanda of Anchorage, AK. Grandchildren: Tyler, Carissa, Bethaney, Thomas, Hayden, Casey, Maddison, Ace, Summer, Brayden, Peyton, Harper, Madison, Addalyn and Hector (Heavy D), and Great Grandchild Hunter. Sister -Linda Ritchie and Husband Lonnie of Magnolia, TX, Sister- Donna Richter and Husband Steve of Rowlett, TX, Brother- Ricky Austin and Wife Debbie of Waxahachie, TX, Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Billy followed in his dad’s footsteps and started driving an 18-wheeler truck when he was 22, and drove for 35 years. He started driving for Gibson’s Discount Center in Seagoville, TX, then drove for Sherwin Williams Paints in Garland TX. He retired from BOC Gases out of Terrell TX.
He hauled his boys around doing rodeos and roping’s throughout their adolescent and teen years. He was proud of his youngest son, John, who serves in the United States Air Force, and told everyone that he could. After retirement his full-time job became taking care of his grandchildren.
Taking them to school, doctors’ appointments to picking out outfits for school events. NO ONE could do that job better than he. He was the dugout coach for Hayden’s T-Ball Team and loved helping and being the “Dugout Boompa”.
Going on weekly visits to Starbucks for “mocha choka latte’s”, aka White Chocolate Mocha’s with Bethaney, and eating their all-time favorite, “Whataburger”. He was by far the best Boompa any kid could have. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
He loved his church, and was looking forward to the day that he would get back. He took great pride and comfort knowing he loved the lord and knew he was going home to be with him one day. Billy loved clowning around with his friends, especially his grandkids.
He was a big prankster and had NO filter when he was telling you something he had on his mind. He was a great story teller, and when he had a story to tell you about an event or happening, you had best pull up a chair and be there for the long haul. A two-minute story could last twenty minutes or longer with him.
He never met a stranger and was loved by many. He was blessed to have all of the friends he met over the years. To know him was to love him.
For those that know Billy well, you all know what a fighter he was. He fought till the very end. He is the strongest man his family knows.
He was a godly man and loved the lord, he will be greatly missed.
