Billy Ray Shelley, a resident of Ashford, died Friday, September 14, 2018 at Extendicare Health and Rehab. He was 82. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Reverend John Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Mr. Shelley was born January 5, 1936 in Henry County, Alabama to the late Herbert and Ruby Richardson Shelley. He was a lifelong resident of Ashford and worked with Wade Shelley Service Station.

Mr. Shelley loved the outdoors and fishing on the river. Mr. Shelley is preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Ray Shelley; brother, Wayne L. Shelley and a sister, Janice Shelley Dykes. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ludene Shelley; brothers, James Hubert and Doris Shelley, Don M. and Marsha Shelley, Harold H. and Rose Shelley, Larry G. and Kathy Shelley; sister, Betty Jean “Pat” Adams; several nieces and nephews.
