OBITUARY Billye Power McCarter July 8, 1940 – November 8, 2018 Billye Joyce Power McCarter: Born July 8, 1940, in Ackerman, MS, she resided in Memphis, TN, before moving to Mobile, AL, in 1976. Billye passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at the age of 78. She was a 1958 graduate of Nicholas Blackwell High School in Bartlett, TN (a suburb of Memphis).

Billye was an active member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in Mobile, where she served on several committees and volunteered over the years. She also spent countless hours ministering at The Haven of Hope for Women and McKemie Place Homeless Shelter. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Adele Power.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, J. Paul McCarter; daughter Stacey McCarter Kuntz (Joseph); two grandchildren, Tucker and Emily Kuntz; and one great-grandchild, Thomas Kuntz, all of whom reside in Mobile, AL. She is also survived by her sister, Peggie Heard of Memphis, TN, numerous other relatives and of course, the “Girlfriends Group” who are her honorary sisters. The family will receive friends Monday, November 12, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until noon, following with a memorial service at noon at Spring Hill Baptist Church.

A private graveside service will take place Tuesday, November 13, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute in Mobile, AL, or to the charity of your choice in Billye’s name.
