Bishop L T Blackmon, 81, husband of Juanita Lewis Blackmon, died Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence. Bishop L T Blackmon was born on August 9, 1937 in Dillion, SC, son of the late Dannie Byrd Blackmon and step son of the late Lamar Blackmon. L T joined the Navy at age 17, where he served 20 years and retired as Chief Petty Officer.

He became a Church of God Pastor in 1973 and served at the Gray COG, in Gray, GA. Around 1975, he pastored Hayward COG, in Sniders, SC and in 1976 he pastored Southway COG, in Florence, SC. He pastored Hartsville COG, in Hartville, SC in 1981 and later in 1983, he pastored Pacolet Mills COG, in Pacolet Mills, SC.

He pastored the Coward COG in Coward, SC in 1988 and in 1994, he pastored Pine Ridge COG, in Pine Ridge, SC, where he retired in 2000. However, he continued to minister and preach the gospel until present day. He was a very loving and caring husband and father and grandfather.

His love for the Lord and the church was very present in his everyday life. Over the years he enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and fishing was his favorite form of relaxation. Surviving are his wife, Juanita Lewis Blackmon of Coward; sons, Larry (Wanda) Blackmon from Coward and Stephen (Pamela) Blackmon from Hartsville; grandchildren, Paul Boggs and fiance, Stephanie Jordan, Christopher (JoAnn) Boggs, Amber (Timmy) Powell, Nicki (Evans) Broach, Amber (Scott) Morris, Jeri Harrington, Mary Ann Blackmon; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Bishop L T Blackmon was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Follette. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Coward Church of God. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3:00-5:00 PM at Carolina Funeral Home.

Graveside services with full military honors will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 6, 2019 at Florence National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Coward Church of God, PO Box 187, Coward, SC 29530.
