Bonita “Bonnie” Kay Dodson, 83, of Girard, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 4, 2019. Bonnie was born September 29, 1935, in Salem, Ohio, the daughter of Rev. Paul B. Frantz, and Dorothy (Osgood) Frantz- Beadling.

She had worked as an LPN for Northside Hospital, Heritage Manor, and retired from Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home, in Niles. Bonnie was a faithful member of the Church Hill United Methodist Church, and was a part of the “Knitwits” club, with her fellow church ladies. She had been a Camp Fire Girl Scout Leader, a Girl Scout nurse, for many years.

Bonnie enjoyed sewing, crocheting, traveling, camping, and was an avid lover of animals. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 66 years, Isaac “Duke” Dodson, whom she married June 2, 1952, her children; Sue Ann (James) Cerny, of Girard, John (Theresa) Dodson, of Girard, and Barbara (Edward) Gulas, of Girard, along with 8 grandchildren, and 8 great- grandchildren. Bonnie is preceded in death by her son, Paul H. Dodson, and a brother Robert Frantz.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7th, 6:00 PM, at Church Hill United Methodist Church, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 PM until the time of service. Bonnie will be laid to rest at Churchill Cemetery. The family requests any memorial contributions be made to the Church Memorial Fund.
