Mrs. Bonnie Cheek Hinson, age 75, passed away on February 26, 2019 after several years of battling with dementia. Her home going was very peaceful as she, surrounded by her family, exited this life to the heavenly home prepared for her by her Lord. Bonnie was born in Dobson, NC on March 4, 1943 to David and Florence Cheek who preceded her in death.

She graduated from North High School in Wilkes County. She married Frank Hinson on July 1, 1961 and has remained a faithful and loving wife for these 57 years. She attended Draughn’s Business College in Winston-Salem, and worked at Bahnson, Inc. for a short period of time before coming home to fulfill her desired role as mother and homemaker.

Bonnie was a loving mother and grandmother, and her daughter, Susan, and granddaughter, Olivia, were a big priority in her life. One of her favorite activities was artistic painting, and she received several ribbons and awards for her work. She liked to help and teach others who wanted to develop their painting skills.

She was known for her sweet spirit and a warm smile. Bonnie had a strong Christian faith and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she faithfully served alongside of Frank in leading a Bible Fellowship class for over 30 years. She loved the Lord and had a heart for ministering to others.

As a part of her ministry within the class she led the ladies in a Bible study known as the “Anchor Group” based on Hebrews 6:19. She was also a member of the Auxiliary of The Gideons International in the West Forsyth camp. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray, Frank, and John Cheek, and one sister Beulah Head.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Frank, her daughter, Susan Morris (John), a beloved granddaughter, Olivia Miller, and a sister, Betty Hinson and husband Johnsy ‘Dee’ who is also Frank’s brother. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews who were special to her. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev.

Al Fausch and Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday March 1, 2019 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

A private family graveside service will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 134 S. Peace Haven Road Winston-Salem, NC 27104, or to the Gideons International, Forsyth West Camp, P.O. Box 21, Lewisville, NC 27023. The family would like to thank the members of the Hinson Bible Fellowship class for their love and support over many years but especially during these recent years as the dementia progressed.

Thanks also to many other friends in the Calvary family who ministered to her during this journey. The family would also like to thank the staff at Trinity Elms in Clemmons for their outstanding care, love, and support over the past 16 months that Bonnie has been there. Thank you so much for your loving care.

Thanks to Trellis Care (Hospice) for their kind help and care in these recent weeks that was a great help to Bonnie and the family. Thanks to Senior Services of Winston Salem for their help and support in the mid stage of the illness when care was needed in the home. The care that they provided was a great help.
