Boyzie “Cha-Cha”‘s Obituary Pawtucket – Boyzie “Cha-Cha” Philip Grant, 78, passed away at Rhode Island Hospital on March 2, 2019. He was the husband of Rebecca (Johnson) Grant of Freetown, Sierra Leone. Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, he was the son of the late Emilia Farmer and Samuel Grant.

Mr. Grant moved to the Kono District, a province in Sierra Leone, in 1958 and worked at Sierra Leone Selection Trust (SLST) as a diamond miner for over fifty years. He moved back to Freetown after the Rebel War in the provinces. He spent most of his time in the Eastern part of Freetown and moved to Pawtucket, RI, U.S. in 2019.

He enjoyed playing soccer, dancing, spending time with children and family and had a wonderful sense of humor. Boyzie played soccer for Diamond Stars and was an excellent soccer player. Mr. Grant was a cheerful, loving, charming and peaceful father, grand-father, great-grandfather, cousin, uncle and friend to many.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Eunice Grovesnor and her husband, Marvellous, of Pawtucket, RI and Comfort Grant of Sierra Leone; two sons, Beresford and Boyzie Grant, Jr. of Sierra Leone; four grandchildren, Admire Kabbah and her husband Ahmed Tejan of Virginia, Yasmine Turay of New Hampshire, Shawna Turay of Boston, MA and Hakeem Turay of Lowell, MA; three great-grandchildren, Melbourne, Melvin and Zahra; a sister, Elizabeth Smith, and a brother, Samuel Grant, both of Sierra Leone. He was the brother of the late Claudius, Brighten, and Emile Barber and Drusilla Grant. VISITATION will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. in the Victory Assembly of God Church, 321 Veazie St., Providence, followed by a Celebration of Life at 10 a.m. Interment will immediately follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence, 1 Cathedral Square, Providence, RI 02903 would be greatly appreciated.
