Obituary for Brenda Joyce Price Brenda Joyce Price was born April 12, 1941, in Columbus, GA. She attended Jordan Vocational High School and University of Nevada-Las Vegas. She served the Columbus community as Executive Director of the Columbus GA Convention & Bureau.

Brenda passed away on October 19, 2018 at home, New Orleans, LA after an eleven year battle with Parkinson’s disease. Please rejoice in the extraordinary life of Brenda Price. Brenda started her career in the hospitality Industry in Las Vegas Nevada; she volunteered as chairperson for the 1996 Centennial Celebration.

She successfully won a bid for a seat on the City Council, only the second woman to reach that goal. At the same time, working for the Las Vegas Hilton (World’s largest hotel at the time) as Director of Tourism and Travel, later was part of Hilton Corporation’s executive ladder, she became one out of five Director of Marketing, the other four were all men. Recruited by the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Bureau, she became part of the sales and marketing team.

She was later promoted to manager of the Las Vegas and the Washington D.C. office. She returned home to Columbus as Executive Director of the Columbus GA Convention & Bureau, special events and regional tourism became her focus. She had a key role in the event management of Columbus Quincentenntial Celebration, Superball, Uptown Jam, River Fest, and the 1996 Olympic Games.

She was a member of the Exchange Club of Columbus, awarded Presidential Award of Honor. A member of Georgia Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award and served on the board of trustees for Historic Columbus Foundation. She is survived by her brother, Sonny Gaylor; her son, William R. Price; her grandson, William M. Price.
