Obituary for Margaret R. Hegarty Margaret R. (Goffredo) Hegarty, surrounded by her loving family, passed peacefully on Tuesday September 25, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She was 88 years old. She was born June 14, 1930 in Cambridge MA, the daughter of Anthony and Delphine (Salani) Goffredo.
She was predeceased by her loving sister Lorraine Kemp. She was a 1948 graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School. Margaret married her loving and devoted husband William on November 25, 1951.
Their early years together were spent in Cambridge, MA. In 1963 they moved with their young family to Chelmsford MA. Over the years, Margaret held various positions at several local banks.
Later in life they moved to Hudson, NH. Margaret loved to travel throughout the United States and Europe and cruise to exotic locales. She enjoyed meeting her aunts and dear friends at the casinos.
Although she hardly won, that never stopped her from having a great time. She always knew Bill would cover her losses. She had a terrific sense of humor.
Always finding a way to lift someone up. Her greatest joy was when she was surrounded by her family. She loved entertaining, whether weekly card games with neighbors, hosting the Holidays, or a Sunday dinner.
Her love for nourishing one’s soul through cooking and baking is a legacy she passed to all her children. She wasn’t happy unless she had something to offer you when you visited. She courageously battled and beat breast and kidney cancer, but succumbed to her fight against heart disease.
