Obituary for Virginia Cooney Virginia A. (Molloy) Cooney, 92 of Nashua, NH, died October 11, 2018 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. She was born August 1, 1926 in Lowell, MA, daughter of the late Martin A. and Rhona (LaMontagne) Molloy. Virginia was predeceased in 2013 by her beloved husband, John T. Cooney, Sr..

Virginia was also predeceased by her brother Martin A. Molloy, Jr. and sisters Marylou Molloy, Patricia Monahan and Marilyn Dostaler. In her younger years, Virginia was a proud member of the St. Rita’s Cadets. She enjoyed family trips to Salisbury beach and going to dances.

Following her high school graduation, she became a dedicated RN with St. John’s Hospital in Lowell, having spent over 30 years as an operating room nurse. She and her family created lasting memories by traveling together, even taking a cross country trip together by car. Virginia also enjoyed traveling all over the world with her husband.

Her greatest joy came when spending time with her loving family. That loving family includes one son and two daughters; Miki Cooney of South Yarmouth, MA, John Cooney, Jr. and his wife Jaleh of Acton, MA, Maryanne Melley and her husband John of West Hartford, CT, five grandchildren, Rana Czellecz and her husband Kevin of Billerica, MA, Shannon Cooney of Acton, MA, Jessica Keating and her husband Chris of LaSalle, Canada, Caitlin Melley of West Hartford, CT, Sarah Jaksina and her husband Jeff of West Hartford, CT, one great grandchild, Christian Keating of LaSalle, Canada, she has two living sisters, Janice Paige of Londonderry, NH and June Smith of Westford, MA as well as many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 16th from 4pm-7pm in the DUMONT-SULLIVAN FUNERAL HOME, 50 FERRY ST IN HUDSON, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 17th at 10am in St. Aloysius of Gonzaga Parish, 48 West Hollis St., in Nashua, NH. All may meet at church.

Burial will take place in Pine Ridge Cemetery, 130 Billerica Rd. , in Chelmsford, MA. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Virginia’s loving memory to Home Health & Hospice Care, Attn: Hospice House, 7 Executive Park Dr., Merrimack, NH 03054.
