Morris / Ronkonkoma, NY Brian Merz, 48, formerly of Morris passed away unexpectedly on December 24, 2018. Brian was born on August 13, 1970 in Smithtown, NY and was the son of the late Carl Duane Merz and Donna Joan Calamiello. Brian was a master carpenter, following in the footsteps of his father.

He also loved to cook, fish and spend time at his family farm in Morris. He will be remembered as a compassionate loving person, not only to his family, but to his friends; many of… which he considered family. He will be missed greatly by all of those that knew him.

He is survived by his sister Laura (Daniel) Day; nephews, Kyle Maines and Mitchell Merz and his niece Taylor Maines. Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Johnston Funeral Home, 60 Broad Street, Morris from 11AM- 1PM. Burial will then take place in Hillington Cemetery.
