OBITUARY Bruce W Cox April 4, 1962 – October 30, 2018 Bruce William Cox, beloved husband, son, brother and friend passed away unexpectedly Tuesday October 30, 2018, he was 56. Bruce is survived by his adoring wife Laurel Cox of 15 years. They married as best friends and their love grew stronger with each passing year.
Bruce was a beloved husband who was quick to help anyone in need with a kind word, a gift of his time, a good idea or his strong capable hands. Bruce had a magical way of making things better and an amazing ability to make us all laugh. Bruce will be forever remembered by his wife, Laurel Cox, his dear father Bill Cox of Cocoa and Laurel’s family who thought of him as the best guy in the world.
Bruce will be deeply missed by his mother-in-law Laurel Rasegan and his uncle Jamie and Aunt Ha, Ray and Dawn White of Massachusetts, Pat and Scott White of Palm Bay Florida, Amy and Craig Coy of Cocoa, Florida, Avril and Jonathan Desrosiers of Palm Bay Florida. Bruce’s family including three sisters, Belinda Rowe of Viera, Florida, Jenny Brown of Shelby, Ohio and Patricia Finney of Cocoa, Florida as well as Uncle Dave, Aunt Peggy and Uncle Basil, Aunt Alice and Uncle Gene will always hold their brother and nephew close in their hearts. His many adoring nieces and nephews will forever carry his love in their heart.
Bruce was proceeded by his dear loving Mother, Ovelene Cox and his aunt Ethel Smith. Bruce went to Cocoa High School, graduating in 1980, continuing his education at Brevard Community College with a AS in Electronic Engineering. After graduation he began a very rewarding career with the Lockheed Martin Titan program for 18 years.
During those years he received many awards for his outstanding abilities. In his last role at Extant he was known for excellent capabilities and was being trained as a manager. Bruce’s favorite place was the beach and his favorite hobbies were fishing, surfing, supping and kayaking.
He also loved volleyball, hiking and bike riding. In 2017 Bruce was hero to a little girl who was bitten by a shark at his favorite beach. He saw her struggling and carried her out of the water to safety and made sure she had emergency service care.
Bruce also loved working on computers and was often called upon to use his magic talents in assisting others with their computer problems. He even helped his 96-year-old father set up a Facebook account. Bruce loved and adored his wife so much he completely remodeled their home to be her dream home.
He made all the cabinets out of solid wood, removed walls, renovated bathrooms, tiled floors in wood look tile and planted many trees to make her a magic garden complete with a pergola. Bruce’s kindness and quick smile was known to all—he was always willing to drop what he was doing to help family and friends with happiness and grace. He loved making dreams come true—he loved helping get ready for parties, decorating and helping make others’ lives happy.
