OBITUARY Mr. C. Walter Nichols III August 25, 1937 – January 13, 2019 Charles Walter Nichols III “Wally”, age 81, died on January 13, 2019 at his home in South Dartmouth. He was predeceased by his wife Anna Sharp Nichols. Wally is survived by his wife Helga Faulenbach and his children Blair Chandler (Pete), Sandy Nash (Peter), Wally Nichols IV and Hope Prockop (David) and eight grandchildren of which he was very proud, Levi, Aiden and Ty Chandler, Gardner and Whitney Nash, Hattie Nichols and Molly and Lyle Prockop.

Born in New York City, he graduated from Choate Rosemary Hall and the University of Virginia. Wally was Vice President at Citibank and JP Morgan in New York and enjoyed many interactions and stories he liked to share, including the sad story of the white dog. Wally served in the Army for two years, rising to the rank of First Lieutenant and was proud of receiving the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.

He leaves behind a legacy of philanthropy and his life-long passion for conservation, education, opera, cross country train travel and clothing optional living. Wally will be remembered for his kindness, random gifts, generosity, wit, charm, diplomacy, easy-going nature, love of the sun and gratitude for living one day at a time. His family is grateful to the Community Nurse Hospice Care for their help and strong support for patient and caretakers.
