Obituary for Carl E Peaslee Carl Eugene Peaslee of Pittsfield, died Friday, December 21, 2018 at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility. Born in Pittsfield, MA on July 23, 1933 to the late Robert E. and Edna Conklin Peaslee.

He was educated in the Pittsfield school system, graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1952. Carl took his toolmaking apprenticeship at May Engineering of Pittsfield and then served in the Army in Germany in 1957 and 1958. After his military service, he was employed at Marland Mold Company for 34 years as a mold maker and a sales engineer, retiring in 1991 then returning as a consultant until 1998.

Carl was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church and a member of it’s Bingo Committee and Parish Council. Carl ran the Notre Dame Family Summer Festival for many years. He has since been a communicant of St. Joseph Church.

Carl had been a long-time member of the amateur speed skating union, serving as chief judge for many years. He also had been a long-time member of the local speed skating club and had been the chairman of the Pittsfield indoor and outdoors speed skating meet. As a member of Northern New York Speed Skating, he was its President in 1968.

Carl also officiated at the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid, NY as a track steward. As a member of the Pittsfield Winter Sports, he was a past chairman and held numerous positions for the annual Winter Carnival in 1984-1985. The Winter Sports Committee dedicated the 1984-1985 Pittsfield Winter Carnival to Carl and his wife Patricia for their long dedication to the committee and winter sports.

Besides all his winter sports activities, Carl also enjoyed playing his home organ. He leaves behind his wife, the former Patricia A. Sturgeon, they were married at Notre Dame Church on October 15, 1955. His brother, Robert R. Peaslee and wife Gloria of Dalton, MA; sister Jane Heidcamp of North Attleboro, MA; his nieces and nephews, Cheryl (Bob) Killeen, David (Marla) Peaslee, Donna Bell, Catherine (Bruce) Stiles, Robert (Maura) Heidcamp, Pamela (Fred) Alfred, Lynn (Jeff) Freedman, Lisa (Carl) Murphy, Stephen Sheridan, Christopher (Demetria) Sheridan, and Susan Sheridan.

He was predeceased by his sister, Marian (Francis) Sheridan; nephews James Sheridan, William Sheridan and Peter Bell. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. Peaslee will be held SATURDAY, December 29, 2018, at 8:15am from Dery Funeral Home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00am at St. Joseph Church, celebrated by Rev. Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, Pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held, FRIDAY, December 28, 2018 from 2:00-4:00pm at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Pittsfield Parks Speed Skating Club in care of the funeral home.
