Conaway, 87, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born September 5, 1931 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Hayes and Alice (Donley) Conaway. Carl retired from the Martins Ferry Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel.

He attended Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church. Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Army Korean War serving with the Moundsville National Guard Tank Co. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings; Kenneth and George Conaway, Virginia Hinzey, Mary Hughes, Martha Mortakes and Lorraine McGlothlin. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Shirley J. (Miller) Conaway, children; Carl (Phana) Conaway of N. Canton, OH, Paul (Judy) Conaway, Gary Conaway and Velvet (Dave) Saltkield all of Rayland, OH and Carla (Del) Barris of Martins Ferry, brother, Bill (Mary) Conaway of Bethlehem, WV and Jean DeLelles of Martins Ferry, fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Friday 5 to 8 p.m where services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Joe Ellis officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church, 55101 Deep Run Rd.
