Carl Whipple, age 65, of Marion, Illinois passed away at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood, Illinois with a one hour viewing prior to the service.

Preacher Harold Whitlock will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Pagel Funeral Home in Edgewood, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or the donor’s choice.

Carl was born October 20, 1953 in Centralia, Illinois the son of Valla D. and Vera (Madison) Whipple. Carl married Sharon “Dangy” Kay Whipple on December 19, 2018 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, after spending 37 years together as soul mates. Carl was a Christian.

He enjoyed gambling, slot machines and playing Dr. Mario and Tetris. Carl is survived by his wife, Sharon “Dangy” Kay Whipple, of Marion, Illinois; one son, Vallie “Mush” (wife, Lesley) Whipple of Salem, Illinois; two daughters, Carla “Poochie” (husband, Jaymac) Joles of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Lolly Sue (husband, Bob) Collins of Terre Haute, Indiana; four brothers, Erine Whipple of Centralia, Illinois, Joseph (wife, Kathleen) Whipple of Mt.

Vernon, Illinois, Perry “Boomer” Whipple of Brazoria, Texas, Norman Dave Whipple of Jacksonville, Arkansas; three sisters, Charlotte (husband Michael) Whipple of Brazoria, Texas, Nora (husband, Edward) Whipple of Brazoria, Texas, Velvet (husband, Jimmy) Whipple of Brazoria, Texas; two step-daughters, Phyllis “Porky” Winscott of Angleton, Texas, Melanie Dillard of Rector, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, fifteen nieces and nephews and six step-grandchildren. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Vallie D. and Vera Whipple; one daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Ann Whipple; six brothers, Vallie “Mutt” Whipple, Albert Whipple, Alvin Whipple, Bruce Whipple, Francis “Hog” Whipple; four sisters, Cleda Rae Whipple, Sally Ann Whipple, Cappy Whipple, Molly Ann Whipple (Herman) Tony; one nephew, Joey “Baldie” Whipple.
