Carlos’ Obituary Jorge Carlos Trejo Repetto, 92, of Lansdale PA, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. Carlos was born in Merida, Yucatán, Mexico, the first of six children of Carlos Trejo Garcia and Olga Yolanda Repetto Vadillo, and spent his childhood in Monterrey and Mexico City. He journeyed to the United States for college, completing a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the Philadelphia School of Pharmacy and Science and an M.S. in statistics at Rutgers University.
In Philadelphia he met his lifelong companion, Peggie, who was studying music at the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music. They married in 1951, beginning their lives together in Cincinnati, where Carlos joined the research and development group at Procter & Gamble. While at P&G Carlos excelled in product development winning awards for his contributions.
Later, Carlos and Peggy moved to Mexico where Carlos worked in petroleum exploration in Veracruz and an agricultural start-up in Mexico City. During this time his first three sons, Juan (John), Leonardo (Len), and Bernardo (Bernie) were born. Later, Carlos was recruited by Johnson & Johnson to develop the non-woven textiles at Chicopee Manufacturing in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
The family moved to East Brunswick, where their youngest son Robert (Bob) was born. While at J&J, Carlos pioneered the science and technology of manufacturing non-woven fabrics which are widely used today in medical and home products such as hospital caps, masks, diapers, and filters. In 1966 Carlos joined Milyon, SA in Mexico City where form many years he successfully advanced non-woven technology.
The family thrived in Mexico City enjoying a wonderful life in the Pedregal suburb. In his final career phase, Carlos was an independent consultant and established start-up plants in Argentina, Columbia and the Phillipines. Carlos’ limitless energy, razor sharp intellect, and high creativity fueled a successful career, in which he was highly regarded as a world-class expert and innovator.
He and Peggy retired to Pennsylvania in 1985. Carlos devoted his life to supporting and guiding his family as a father and a grandfather. He enjoyed classical and folk music, playing his guitar and harmonica, mountain climbing, exploring and traveling with his family, dancing, reading, writing, crossword puzzles, and constantly learning.
He was often referred to as “larger than life” and the essence of “joie de vivre”. Carlos will be remembered for his generosity, enthusiasm, his good cheer, and a beautiful smile. He will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his loving wife Margaret (Peggie) Trejo Ryan, sons John, Leonard, Bernard, and Robert, Carlos’ brothers, Fernando Trejo Repetto and Alejandro Trejo Repetto, and sisters Nidia Trejo de Rodriquez, and Aida Trejo de Gonzalez, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 1PM at Brittany Pointe Estates, 1001 South Valley Forge in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Carlos’ family offers special thanks to the staff of Brittany Pointe Estates for their loving care of Carlos and Peggie.
