Katzenberger March 27, 1955 – March 20, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Kenneth Thomas Katzenberger, 63, of North Wales, passed away peacefully Wednesday March 20, 2019. Born on March 27, 1955 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Francis X. Katzenberger, Sr., and Gladys E. (O’Connor) Katzenberger. He was of the Catholic faith.

In his over 40 years of professional life, Ken worked as an accountant and proudly maintained his CPA license throughout his life. In his “second act” he was an Enterprise Systems and Management Consultant, having established his own consulting firm in 1998. Ken’s grade school and junior high school years were spent in Garden City NY, where he participated in the Boy Scouts, and played football, baseball, lacrosse and wrestled.

Throughout his life, he continued to maintain friendships with his Garden City friends. His high school years were spent in Marietta OH, where he was an accomplished athlete on the football field, the wrestling mat, and on a stage – as he was an acknowledged performer and skilled entertainer. He was a popular member of the Class of 1973 and never missed a high school reunion.

Ken always saw a crowd of people as a chance to entertain, tell a story and have fun. If there was a parade, he was going to be in the front. If there was a microphone, it would be in his hands.

If there was a conga line, he would be leading it. He attended and graduated from Montgomery County Community College, and Temple University having received his MBA in 1978. Ken had a variety of interests, among them traveling and sports, often combining the two.

He travelled to over 45 states and lived and worked on three continents, including Europe and Australia. He particularly enjoyed his “Fall Football Junkets” as he would travel the East Coast and across the Midwest to follow his two favorite college teams, the Temple Owls and the Ohio State Buckeyes. In recent years, Ken thoroughly enjoyed watching the light of his life, his niece, Laurel, perform.

He invested his weekends to follow her performances across the Mid-Atlantic region. Always an analytical Accountant, he applied his Excel skills to recording the scores and predicting the outcomes. His survivors include five siblings, Gail E. Custer (Jim) and their children, Jennifer and Andrew, of Grayson, GA; Cindy A. Katzenberger and her daughter, Laurel, of Schwenksville; Paula J. Robinson (Mark) and their children, Justin and Paige, of Shelbyville, TX; Carol J. Katzenberger, and James E. Katzenberger, both of Lansdale.

He is pre deceased by a brother Francis X. Katzenberger, Jr., and a sister Marie L. Katzenberger. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday April 4, 2019, at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave. , Lansdale, PA, 19446.

A second viewing will start at 11:00 a.m. Friday April 5th, at Mary Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church, 1325 Upper State Road North Wales PA 19454, with the Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Interment will follow the Mass and will be at St. John Neumann Cemetery, 3797 County Line Road Chalfont, PA.
