Carlyle Edward Thomas Carlyle Edward Thomas, 100 years old, of Green Castle, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. Carlyle was born on March 29, 1918, to John and Faye (Bachman) Thomas, in Brookfield, Missouri. On September 4, 1948 in Novinger, Missouri, he married Mary Jean (Jobe) Thomas, she survives him of the home.

Also surviving: Two sons, Carroll Thomas (Karen) of Green Castle, and Clayton Thomas (Carla Cullor) of Green Castle; Grandchildren, Jason Thomas, Racheal Carter, and Theresa Rickelman; Great grandchildren, Joey Thomas, Nathan Thomas, Gabe Thomas, Alana Rickelman, and Jenna Rickelman; three sisters, Virginia Dehm of Green City, Betty Gerst of Kansas City, Missouri, and Billie Roberts of Orrick, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Irene Wyant; and a nephew. Carlyle was born in Brookfield and at the age of 4, moved to Pennville.

After marrying Mary, they moved to Eldora, Iowa for 2 years, and then moved back to Green Castle. He farmed, worked 10 years at Con Agra, and also has worked at the Coop Station in Green City. He was a member of the Coop board for many years, was a past Green Castle Lions Club member, and a member of the Green City American Legion Post.

He served as the Penn Township tax collector and on the township board. Carlyle liked to fish, drive his side by side, and check his cows. He enjoyed Mizzou football and basketball, and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball.

Carlyle most loved his grandchildren. Following cremation, a private inurnment will be held at a later time at the Green City Cemetery.
