OBITUARY Carmen Maria Ramirez-Cortes December 27, 1947 – November 25, 2017 Carmen Maria Ramirez-Cortes, 70, was born December 27, 1947 in South Bronx, New York. She succumbed to an illness allowing her to join her late husband and true love, Pedro Antonio Cortes on November 25, 2018. Carmen is survived by daughters: Jessica, Carmen (Muchi), and fur baby: Ginger; Son: Rafael (Valerie); grandchildren: Moises, Joel, JaLiah, and Pedro; sister: Maggie (Oscar); brothers: Joseph (Kathleen) and Ricardo (Rosie) along with many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and extended family.

Carmen worked for many years in the health department taking people under her wings and eventually incorporating them into the family. Family was the most important part of Carmen’s life and she hosted many large family gatherings just so that she could have all of her family together. She was the neighborhood “mom”, always feeding and taking care of children.

Carmen also enjoyed going on family vacations, volunteering in the schools, and took great pride in being a CCD teacher. She was always there to help any and every one. Carmen was an angel here on earth and will be greatly missed.
