Carol A. Thorpe, 73, of Pleasant Valley, Iowa passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Unity Point Health – Trinity in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Carol was born on October 23, 1945 in Davenport, the daughter of William and Ethel (Bradwell) Phillips.

On July 2, 1966, she married Jon J. Thorpe at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 2007. She worked at Oscar Mayer and retired in 2005.

Carol was the life of the party no matter where she went. She enjoyed smoking her cigarettes and drinking Busch Light. Carol was an avid euchre and card player.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Thorpe of Pleasant Valley; granddaughter, Morgan Evans of Pleasant Valley; sister, Sally (Vern) Dean of Davenport; brother, William Phillips of Texas; best friend, Fran Devlin of Pleasant Valley; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Ruth Buckley, Betty Bowman, Earsel Davidson, and Richard Phillips.
