Carol Jean Harness, daughter of Carl James Tummons and Viola Mae Garner, was born January 8, 1948. She departed this life March 1st, 2019 at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, MO with family at her side at the age of 71. On August 30, 1985, Carol was united in marriage to Jerold Harness.

They were soulmates and inseparable for the past 33 years. Carol was preceded in death by her parents Carl James Tummons and Viola Mae Garner and a beloved son Everett James Lawson Jr. (Jimmy). Carol is survived by one daughter, Judy Pinkley and husband Kent of Elkland, Mo.

; Grandchildren, Ryan Pinkley, Kyle Pinkley, and Katie Stanley and husband Klayton; two great-grandsons, Nolan and Tanner Pinkley and their mother Miranda Pinkley; and a host of friends and relatives who will sadly miss her. Carol was born in Springfield, Mo and grew up in the Brighton, Mo area. Attending school at Marion C. Early, she later attended Graf-Votech in Springfield, Mo where she received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree.

In the early 2000’s, she and Jerry moved to a small farm south of Buffalo, Mo to be near her daughter and family. She worked several years at Colonial Springs Healthcare Facility. She loved her patients passionately, and it was not just a job, but a God given purpose to care for and love people in need.

She loved the farm life, raising a huge garden, beautiful yard with lots of flowers and her beloved pets and farm animals. She loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. Carol was saved and baptized at an early age.

She loved to play the piano and sing gospel hymns. She kept her faith and knew her Lord well. Carol was a wife, mom, and grandma, before anything else.

She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Making many precious memories going to Silver Dollar City, Wonders of Wildlife, or just fishing on the pond bank. She was so excited that after two great-grandsons, a baby great-granddaughter was coming in June.

Carol lost her son Jimmy when he was fourteen years old. We are so thankful that the unbearable grief she suffered with his loss is now over and her soul is at peace. Carol loved her family very much.
