OBITUARY Caroline “Gracie” Horvath April 28, 1994 – November 10, 2018 Caroline Grace Horvath, 24 Gracie was born on a bright spring day on April 28, 1994 at Cape Cod Hospital to Sarah Grant and Peter Horvath. Gracie was beloved by all. She adored the BHS Drama Club, and culminated her stage career as the wardrobe in Beauty and the Beast.

Not one to pick a conventional instrument, she studied cello for many years, and loved performing. After she graduated from Barnstable High School in 2012, she continued on to Cape Cod Community College to study phlebotomy. Gracie worked at the Dennis and Orleans locations of the C-Lab, where she quickly became famous among her patients and coworkers for her fabulous smile, bubbly and infectious personality, and sincere bedside manner.

She loved her job there, and took pride in creating relationships with her “regulars” and colleagues. Gracie loved Carole King, watching the Great British Baking Show, working in her garden (especially her tomatoes! ), roasted brussel sprouts, exploring beautiful Cape Cod on long walks, any and all dogs, humpback whales, searching for heart-shaped rocks, traveling to Europe, and good times with better friends.

Gracie is one of the few people who would actually drop anything she was doing to be there for a friend. She put everyone before herself, and was the embodiment of selflessness. To know Gracie is to know a true and pure friend.

Our beautiful Gracie passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018. She is survived by her parents, Sarah Grant of Orleans, Peter Horvath (and Linda Preston) of South Yarmouth, her older sister and best friend Nicole Horvath of Harwich, grandmother Barbara Grant of Brewster, aunt Liz Grant of Wellfleet, uncle Bob (and Jan) of Hicksville, NY, cousins Christopher (and Ali) Horvath of Massapequa, NY, Tricia (and Ed) O’Neill of Locust Valley, NY, Brian (and Adrienne) Horvath of Atlanta, GA, several second cousins, her cherished dog Harry, and far too many friends to count. She is predeceased by her partner in crime, her aunt Susan Horvath.

We know they’re playing Scrabble and drinking wine somewhere right now. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 this Saturday, November 17, 2018 at First Parish Brewster (1969 Main Street). Her family would love it if you could join us in celebrating the light that is Gracie.

Caroline’s family would like to create a scholarship at Cape Cod Community College in her memory.
