Carolyne Lee Laux of Baker, Florida, died on December 8, 2018 in Crestview, FL. She was born in Baker, Florida on October 29, 1945 and, therefore, a native Baker resident. Carolyne lived in Ohio during her teenage years where she met and married her late husband, Richard E. Laux, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1994.

She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, Emanuel and Margaret Gebauer, of Baker. Carolyne is survived by two sons, Richard E. Laux, Jr (Laura) of Crestview and Larry Laux (Debra) of Baker; She has five grandchildren, Joshua Laux (Shawna), Christopher Laux (Cindy), Carrie Laux Griffith (Andy), Adam Tew (Tammy), and Cheryl Tew (Scotty); six great grandchildren, Holly Cox, Tyson Laux, Nathaniel Laux, Piper Tew, Carson Tew, and Shayla Tew. She is also survived by two sisters, Cynthia Kelley of Oxford, Ohio and Arden Handler of Madison, Wisconsin and a very special cousin Sara Burneson of Westlake, Ohio.

Carolyne was employed with Northwest Florida State College as Executive Assistant to the President for over 43 years, retiring June 30, 2017. She was always proud of the college’s movement forward with new programs and opportunities for furthering the educational opportunities for the citizens of our area. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Crestview.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 11 AM at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home and the celebration of her life will begin at 12PM. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Cemetery in Baker. FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to American Cancer Society and The Diabetes Association in Carolyne’s memory. Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview. Guest book and condolences are available online at www.
