Catherine “Renie”‘s Obituary Catherine “Renie” Smith Warfield, 87, lived life to the absolute fullest and passed away peacefully on Monday, December 31, 2018 with her beloved husband, children, and loved ones by her side. Renie was born on October 19, 1931 to Dillon Frances Smith and Leone Snyder Smith. She attended local parochial schools and graduated in 1949 as Valedictorian of Catholic High School.

She had maintained a lifelong love of Catholic High. Renie graduated from Catholic University of Washington D.C. with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and UWF with a master’s degree in Education. She married the love of her life, Willard Walter Warfield.

She and Willard raised five children. She enjoyed participating in playing tennis and doing crossword puzzles. At her death she was the oldest continuous living member of Sacred Heart Cathedral.

She had a lifelong commitment to and love of Sacred Heart Cathedral. She worked for the Navy and Civil Service for 30 years. After retirement she worked at a local flower shop and worked on staff of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.

Renie is preceded in death by her beloved sons, Jim Warfield and Bud Warfield. She is survived by her husband, Willard Walter Warfield; children, Catherine Warfield, Frank Warfield (Wanda Rutherford) and John Warfield (Taye); daughter-in-law, Denise Warfield; grandchildren, Ann Gilkey (Scott), Jamie Warfield, Dan Warfield, Franklin Warfield and Dani Chambers; as well as great-grandchildren, Noah Gilkey, Liberty Gilkey, Chase Chambers, Charli Chambers and Chance Chambers. Visitation will be held 9:00am until the Funeral Mass at 10:00am Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, with Msgr.

Michael Reed and Fr. John Licari co-celebrants. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

There will be a reception following all services back at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Parish Hall, “Rita Reynolds’ Room”. Pallbearers will be Richard Falzone, Paul Johansen, Lucius Bryant, John Hartley, Ricky Buist, Frank Patti Jr., and Sean Ward. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in Renie’s name be made to the Pensacola Catholic High Sports Association, 3043 W. Scott St., Pensacola, FL 32505.
