Cathern “Kay” Wangen April 16, 1916 – December 04, 2018 Send Flowers Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Cathern “Kay” Wangen, age 102, of Petersburg, ND, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society-Larimore. Cathern “Kay” was born April 16, 1916 at Cando, ND, the daughter of Walter and Della Evensizer. She was raised and grew to womanhood at Cando and graduated from Cando High School in 1933.

She then attended Mayville State Teachers College. Kay taught in Bisbee, ND and Grafton, ND. Kay married Lawrence Wangen on March 16, 1946.

They lived and made their home in Petersburg. She liked working in her garden, knitting, crocheting and reading. She enjoyed having coffee and playing cards with friends.

Surviving members of her family include her daughter Susan (Dominic) Yambasu, Gresham, OR; 2 granddaughters: Emily (Mitchell) Chadwick and Lisa (Michael) Nelson; 2 grandsons: Doug Wangen and Brian Baker; great grandchildren: Nathaniel, Nolan, Brooke and Laurel and 2 great great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, son Robert, parents, sisters: Eva Mae Rust, Esther McCahn, Gladys Uggen and brother: Col. Harold Evensizer.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 in Petersburg Lutheran Church, Petersburg, ND. VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral in the church on Saturday. INTERMENT: Petersburg Cemetery, Petersburg, ND.
