Cecil E. Hucker, 86, of Carmi passed away at 1:55 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. He was born in Mill Shoals, IL on July 20, 1932 the son of Levi Harrison and Silva Ann (Nelson) Hucker. Cecil married Barbara Stocke on November 4, 1950.

Cecil proudly served his country, retiring after 23 years with the United States Air Force. He was a Special Agent with the Office of Special Investigations, serving in several locations around the world. After, retiring and moving back to Carmi, Cecil worked for the White County Sheriff’s Department and later for the Illinois Conservation Department, retiring after 22 years.

Cecil was a member of the First Christian Church in Carmi where he taught for many years the Christian Workers Sunday School class. He was a 60 year member of the Burnt Prairie Masonic Lodge #668, was active in the White County Republican Party and was a past County Chair. He was also a member of the American Legion and former member of the Carmi Lions Club.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Barbara; two daughters, Sandy (John) Carpenter of Carmi and Carol (Jay) Patterson of Herndon, VA; grandchildren, Heather Wilson, Josh (Carrie) Carpenter, Adam Patterson, Megan (Dave) Zeoli, and Jack Wilson; great-grandchildren, Deegan and Taylor Carpenter, Luke and Tyler Wilson, Mackenzie and Haylie Pringle, and Ellie and Penny Zeoli. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Delbert and Charles Hucker; and four sisters, Mercie Juenger, Ruby Prince, Dorothy Hucker and Meime Hucker. Funeral services for Cecil E. Hucker, 86, of Carmi will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with full military honors by the Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard.

Private family burial will be in Melrose Cemetery in Carmi. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Masonic Rites at 4:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Cecil’s memory to Pets at Risk and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
