Obituary for CELIA EVE SHER Celia Eve Sher, 85, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Thursday, September 6, in the chapel at KI Blue Ridge Cemetery, 1901 Blue Ridge Blvd. in Independence, MO.

Kindly omit flowers; the family suggests contributions to Kehilath Israel Synagogue. Celia was born September 2, 1933 in Kansas City, Missouri to Fred and Annette Lebrecht. She was the niece of Edna and Frank Kushner, who helped raise her after Annette’s passing.

She attended KC Community College and met her future husband, Sylvester, in 1955. They celebrated 56 years of marriage before his passing in 2014. A long-time member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue, Celia was a member of Hadassah and ORT, enjoying holiday gift-wrapping for years.

Celia loved spending time with and talking to her children and grandchildren, as well as family celebrations, holiday and Shabbat dinners. Celia was preceded in death by Sylvester. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Allison and Alan Myers; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Dr. Samuel Gutovitz; son Dr. Scott Sher; grandchildren Dr. Rachel and Bradley Jacobs, Brian Myers; Dr. Cory Gutovitz, Dr. Hillary Gutovitz and fiancée Sean Hirshberg, Jeremy and Joel Gutovitz; Alex, Davi and Zoe Sher; and sister-in-law Carole Sher, nieces and nephews.
