Cessie Mae Whitfield February 05, 1933 – December 21, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Cessie Mae Warlick was born on February 5, 1933 in Jackson, Tennessee to the late Fred Rose, Sr. and Abess (Warlick) Sharp. She attended East Jackson School in Jackson, Tennessee and Alton Public Schools at Lovejoy School in Alton, Illinois. At the age of 12, she accepted the Lord Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

In 1947, she joined Webster Temple Church of God in Christ and began serving the Lord. She married Cleveland Whitfield and they were the parents of three girls and four boys and many, many spiritual children. For many years she taught at her church and was later promoted to Superintendent of Sunday School.

Because of her dedication and willingness to service, she was promoted to a Missionary in the Church of God in Christ. After years of teaching, she felt the call to go to Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and in 1987, she received a certification in the Teaching Ministry. In the early 90s though 2006, she held bible studies in her home, also providing dinner to increase attendance.

Because of the example she lived before her children all of them have come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. In retirement she spent much of her time praying and encouraging others. On Friday, December 21, 2018 at 1:35 p.m., Missionary Cessie Mae Whitfield departed this life, going home to be with the Lord.

She was preceded in death: by her parents; her husband ~ Cleveland Whitfield; son ~ William L. Sharp; three brothers ~ Lee Andrew Lancaster, Walter Lee, and Fred Rose, Jr.; three sisters ~ Beulah Reaves, Mary Drucella Williams, and Kimberly Parks. She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters ~ Delores (Eric) Owens, Linda (James) Nicholas, and Denise (John) Blanchard; three sons ~ Darrell (Norma) Whitfield, Jefferey Whitfield, all of Alton, Illinois, and Joseph Whitfield of Milwaukee, WI; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; three sisters ~ Barbara (Derrick) Merriweather, Willie Mae Rose, and Shirley Rose, all of Jackson, Tennessee; and three brothers ~ Charles (Shirley) Rose, Willie L. (Mary) Rose, of Jackson, Tennessee; and Jimmy Rose of Indiana, Indianapolis; and host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
