Charles Alan Smith Sr. 53 of Grattan Township, Belding passed away Thursday February 7, 2019 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Charles was born on August 5, 1965 in Grand Rapids, the son of Charles L. and Clara D. ( Lovell) Smith. He graduated from Comstock Park High School.

In earlier years he was a winning national flat track racer. He was an excellent mechanic and had worked at Harvey Cadillac in Grand Rapids for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his sons and their families.

He was a great dad and always willing to help others. Charles will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is loved and survived by his sons; Charles A. ( Brooke) Smith Jr., Justin L. ( Chelsee) Smith all of Greenville, his grandchildren; Ryder, Malloree and Paislee, his sisters; Kristi Smith of Rockford, Sue Smith of Ada, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and close cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved dog Bubba, special Aunt Rosetta and close friend and neighbor; Mel Chitwood. In keeping with his wish’s cremation has taken place. A time of visitation with his family will be 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Saturday February 16, 2019 at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.
