Charles P. “Chuck” Cooney, Jr., 66, of Locks Hill Road, Wilcox, died, Wednesday, July, 3, 2018 at Penn Highlands-DuBois, after a brief illness. A son of the late Charles P., and Wanda (Flacinski) Cooney, Sr., he was born in Ridgway on September 1, 1951. On April 10, 1976 he married Jean L. (Bauer) who survives in Wilcox.

Besides his wife, Chuck is survived by: his son Chase Cooney of Wilcox; two grandchildren; and his sisters, Joni Heatherdale of Johnsonburg and Carol Cooney of Norfolk, VA. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by: a son, Bret Cooney; and two sisters, Mary Stanish and Janet Miller. Chuck worked at the Johnsonburg Paper Mill for many years, retiring in 2013.

He was a member of the Holy Rosary Church, Wilcox Sportsmen’s and Central Hose Company. A Pirate and Steeler fan, he lived all his life in the Johnsonburg/Wilcox area. There will be no public visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Johnsonburg with Father David Wilson, celebrant. Burial will take place in the Holy Rosary Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Hahne Cancer Center and will be accepting online condolences at www.
