Charles “Chuck” W. Hill, 94, of Dublin, OH, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. Chuck was born to the late Willis W. and Helen. Hill (Bitler) on April 2, 1924 in York Center, OH.

After graduating Dublin High School and starting college, Chuck was called upon to serve in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he began attending Officer’s training until duty called for him to defend our country during the Battle of the Bulge, unfortunately the ship he was on, the SS Leopoldville never made it as it was struck and sank by a torpedo on Christmas Eve 1944 where 755 soldiers perished. Chuck earned The Purple Heart for his courageous service. Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army, he returned to college at The Ohio State University.

Chuck was employed with Grange Insurance as VP of Marketing until his retirement. Chuck was a member of Dublin Community Church and Dublin High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He never knew a stranger, to him a stranger was just a friend he hadn’t yet met.

Besides his parents, preceding him in death is his wife; Dorothy L. Hill (McCoy), two sons; Phillip L. and Charles Douglas “Dougie” Hill, brothers; Walter, Richard and Carl Hill, sisters; Mildred Pauline Orr, Ruth and Helen Louise Hill. Surviving him are his son; Kenyon R. Hill and daughter; Tonya R. Hill, four grandsons; Charles E., Tayler P., Zachary K. and Kyle D. Hill, one granddaughter; Andrea (Gregory) Tatman, three great-granddaughters; Bella M. and Dylan G. Tatman, and Campbell H. Hill. Family will receive friends on Tuesday March 19, 2019 in the DUBLIN COMMUNITY CHURCH 81 W Bridge St, Dublin, OH 43017 from 11:30 AM until the time of service at 1:30, Pastor Robert Tussing, presiding.

Interment will follow in the City of Dublin Cemetery. While flowers are appreciated and welcome, those wishing to do so, may make memorial contributions to The Dublin Community Church, 81 W.
