OBITUARY Charles “Danny” Daniel Wingfield March 31, 1965 – July 23, 2018 “Danny”, Charles Daniel Wingfield, passed away Monday at the age of 53 at the Brenham State Supported Living Center. Danny was born in Berkeley, CA and was a lifelong resident of Houston until he moved to Brenham in 1984. Danny is survived by his father, Vest Garrett Wingfield, his mother, Joan C. Laing and his six siblings and their spouses, (Garrett) GG Raven Wilbur, Susan Wingfield, Anne Wingfield Leach, Ellen and Steve McCurdy, Tom and Cindy Wingfield, and Mary Wingfield as well as his nieces and nephews.
Danny’s biological family would also like to express their heartfelt thanks to Danny’s family in Brenham and the wonderful care they all took of Danny during the last 34 years. Danny was special. He brightened up the lives of everyone around him.
He changed the lives of his family and friends forever for the better. Danny taught all of us to think beyond ourselves and see how the other guy feels. Danny gave us the gift of compassion.
He also gave us the gift of empathy. He gave us the gift of caring, of walking in someone else’s shoes, of the meaning of love everlasting. The goodness that shone from within showed up in his lovely smile.
He gave everyone who knew him the greatest and most important gifts in life – the gift of love and human kindness. Most of all, he made us better people. We are so grateful for having Danny in our lives.
He was the best! He leaves behind sadness in our hearts but joy for having had him for as long as we did. He leaves behind a legacy that gets paid forward every day exponentially by those who knew him.
We are better for knowing Danny and now we get to release him to be free and at peace. Godspeed Danny! Danny’s Memorial Service will be at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 1819 Heights Blvd.
