Charles R. Valenza died on May 18, 2019 at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen; son, Dann; daughter, Janet Mayo (Scott); brothers, Daniel (Pat) and David (Rita); sister, Anne Kramer; grandchildren, Thalia and Daniel; numerous nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of the Eastman School of Music (B.M., M.M.) and the University of Michigan Law School.

He served for four years in the United States Air Force, where he was a bandsman and the director of the Sampsonaires Mens’ Chorus. Charles spent over twenty years at the Monroe County Law Department, where he became the County Attorney. He had a life long passion for music, and played the french horn for many years in the Monroe County Park Band.

Friends may call Friday, May 24th from 3-6 PM at the funeral home (495 N. Winton Rd. ). A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 25th at11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 25 Westminster Road, Rochester.

Donations in Charles’ memory can be made to the Dean’s Fund for Horns at the Eastman School of Music, 26 Gibbs Street, Rochester.
