Charles Ralston January 14, 1922 – May 18, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Charles Ralston 1922-2019 Charles Ralston, age 97, passed away on May 18, 2019 at Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg, IN. He was born January 14,1922 to John and Carrie Rees Ralston in Nebraska, IN (Jennings County), one of 11 children. He grew up in Jennings, Decatur and Rush Counties.

He enlisted in the US Army and served on the European front during WWII, participating in the Battle of the Bulge and liberating the Mauthausen Concentration Camp in Austria. He received a purple heart. He retired from International Furniture in Rushville and Parkside Miniature Golf in Greensburg.

He was a member of Milroy Christian Church, loved to watch sports, was a life-long Cincinnati Reds fan, and an avid bowler into his 90’s. In 1947 he married Betty Lou Hall who preceded him in death in 2002. He is survived by sister, Donna Smiley, and a brother Mike Ralston, both of Milroy.

He is also survived by four children, Linda (John) Miller of Moscow, IN, Francie (Gene Hendrickson) Van Fossen of Daytona, FL, Charles William (Deborah) Ralston of Ocracoke, NC, and Joseph (Jean) Ralston of Batesville, IN. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren. Friends and family may call at Burns Funeral Home, Milroy, IN on Wed.

5-8 and 1hour before the funeral on Thursday at 11am. Mr. Ralston will receive military rites and be buried at Eastbrook Cemetery, Milroy, IN. Memorials may be given to Milroy Christian Church.
