OBITUARY Charles Singletary Passed away on September 14, 2018 Charles Benjamin Singletary, 84, passed away on September 14, 2018 in Birmingham, Alabama. Charles was born in Louisiana to Albert Singletary and Myrtle Walker on July 22, 1934. He grew up in Louisiana and attended and graduated from West Point Academy in 1956 where he met and later married Anita Jane McNair from Pensacola, FL.

They were married for 62 years. Charles had a distinguished career in the Army including two tours of Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. He was awarded several medals for valorous service.

Chuck and Pat felt called to take an early retirement and to serve in full time ministry with the Navigators where he first got involved in 1952. Chuck and Pat would later serve with the Navigators for a total of 59 years. In 1980 they were founding leaders of a new organization – Church Re Ministries (CRM) where Chuck served as President and later on as Chairman of the Board.

Charles is preceded in death by both parents and his two brothers and sister – Ernest & Helen Singletary, Walker Singletary and Betty Jo Anderson. Charles is survived by his wife Pat Singletary, Children Scott (Celia), Sharon and Rev. Steve (Beth) Singletary.

Six Grandchildren Tyler(Julie) Singletary, Ian(Jordan) Singletary, Tucker(Nika) Singletary, Bradley Singletary, Charles Tanner Singletary and Katie Jane(Corey) Farmer. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, Leigh Singletary and Tristan Singletary, as well as a third on the way. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday September 20, 2018 at Briarwood Presbyterian Church with the Rev.

Frank Barker, Jr. and Rev. Harry Reeder of Briarwood Presbyterian Church officiating. Reception to follow at Cahaba Ridge Resort Living Community.

Arrangements are by Rideout Funeral Home – Southside. Interment at Alabama National Cemetery Columbarium with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, Memorials or donations may be given to Briarwood Presbyterian Church, The Navigators and Church Re Ministries (CRM).

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to UAB Highlands ACE unit and ICU for their tender and loving care of Chuck during his last week of life. They cared for him as if he were their own Father. Please see family tributes at www.
