Charles William Pittman was born on January 4, 1934 in West Palm Beach, Florida to Anderson and Launa Pittman. He passed away on December 13, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Diana Duncan Pittman, daughters Susan Dose (Mark), Linda Pittman, Beth Jennings (Doug), and Karen Hegemeier.

He had five grandchildren Neal Dose (Jessica), Nathan Dose, Charles Jennings (Kathryn), Savannah Jennings, and Charlsey Jennings; great grandchildren Allie and Sophie Jennings. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 14 and graduated from Palm Beach High School in 1951, UF in 1960 and the UF School of Law in 1963.

He served in the United States Navy in active duty from 1954-1959. He was a Naval Aviator and Flight Instructor. He was in the Naval Air Reserve from 1959-1975, retiring as a commander.

Charles enjoyed a successful career that spanned 41 years as a Civil trial lawyer and managing partner at Macfarlane, Ferguson, and McMullen . He was nicknamed “The Bulldog” in the courtroom. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tampa where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Director, Teacher, and Chairman of Deacons.

He loved his church and served there faithfully. He considered his greatest work to be missions. Once retired, he devoted his time and energy to leading over 60 mission trips.

He was passionate about telling everyone what God had done for them. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 2pm at the First Baptist Church of Tampa (302 West Kennedy Blvd). In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of Tampa – Missions.

“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace”.
