Obituary of Charles Coon Charles Theodore Coon, Sr., 85, a lifelong Red Hook area resident, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 31, 2019. Born on August 24th, 1933, in Tivoli, NY, he was the son of the late Theodore “Buster” and Edna (Smith) Coon. Charles married Helen Rockefeller and she predeceased him in 1987.

For many years, Charlie worked for the Town of Red Hook and the Village of Red Hook- both their highway maintenance departments. Charlie also was a fixture at events at Dutchess County Fairgrounds, where he worked for decades. Active in his community, Charlie was a life member of the Tivoli Fire Company where he served as Fire Chief for many years and was the former Chief of the Fire Police.

He also was a member of the Monumental Lodge #374, F&AM in Tivoli, NY, and a former member of the Red Hook Fire Company. He is survived by his daughter, Theresa (Garry) Clasen of Hudson, NY; his three sons, Charles T. Coon Jr. of Port Ewen, NY, Donald (Lori) H. Coon of West Camp, NY, and Allen Coon of Conway, SC; his grandchildren, Rebecca (Richard) Milani, Crystal (Ronald) Newkirk, Michelle Clasen, Hannah Clasen, Ryan Coon, Konnor Coon, and Brittney Coon; his great grandchildren, Samantha, Keriann, Gabriella, Aaron, and Elianna; along with extended family, countless friends and colleagues. A brother, Richard Coon, predeceased him.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 4 to 7 pm. Fire Company services will begin at 6:45 & Masonic services will be held at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook, NY.

Burial will be at Red Church Cemetery, Tivoli. Memorial donations may be made in Charlie’s memory to the Tivoli Fire Company, PO Box 486, Tivoli, NY 12583. Arrangements are under the direction of Burnett & White Funeral Homes 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook, NY.
