OBITUARY Charlotte A. Herrold February 19, 1920 – October 12, 2018 Herrold, Charlotte Adair, 98, of Wichita, Kansas went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 12, 2018 in Wichita. Charlotte was born on February 19, 1920 and raised in a small Norwegian heritage farm community near Rushford, Minnesota. Charlotte was always a quiet hard working girl who woke up before dawn to help her dad milk the cows before hiking across several hills to her one-room school house.

Life was tough but they worked together as a family to make it during the early years of the Great Depression. The farm was lost during this time, the family separated and the majority moved to St. Paul, Minnesota to find work. She met her future husband William “Bill” Herrold while working for his sister as housekeeper and cook.

They were married September 19, 1941. They started with little, but loved big, and made a good life together raising four children. Bill served in the Navy Seabees during WWII causing a 2 year separation which was difficult, but met with faith and courage.

They celebrated more than 60 years together before Bill passed away in 2003. Traveling in their RV across the country and visiting Europe and China was a special joy during their retirement years. Charlotte was a great seamstress, teaching her daughters well.

In later years she began quilting with the Blanket Makers at her church. She produced multiple quilts for family members and for church auctions, some winning awards at the Kansas State Fair. Holiday meals were not complete without her homemade Lefse, a Norwegian flatbread.

Industrious, kind, hardworking and self-sacrificing, she embodied the Virtuous Woman of Proverbs 31. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Hattie Hoel, husband; William “Bill” Herrold, son; David Herrold, sisters; Martha Schroyer, Harriet Purdy and brother; James Hoel. She is survived by daughters; Susan Parry, Peggy (Gerry) Holman, son; Steven Herrold, 7 grandchildren; Jennifer (Jeff Kranz) Herrold, Ryan (Jennifer) Herrold, Shannon Wall, Darin Dubie, Julie (Rick) Bodenhamer, Daniel Holman and Susanne (Mike) Estivo and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday October 19, 2018 at Reformation Lutheran Church, 7601 E. 13th St. N., Wichita. Burial will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita. In lieu of flowers memorials have been established with Reformation Lutheran Church or The American Red Cross.
