Chester’s Obituary Chester J. “Chet” Skurski passed away unexpectedly on January 22, 2019, in Vero Beach, FL. Chet was born in Rochester, NY and made his home in Webster, NY at the time of his death. He was a Navy veteran and served on the USS Canberra during World War II.

He retired from Xerox Corporation and spent his retirement years traveling and enjoying his garden and mini-orchard. Chet was predeceased by his parents, all of his siblings and his beloved wife of 73 years, Mary (Marcoff) Skurski. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Skurski Strouth, his granddaughter, Cristiana (Steven) Collins and two beautiful grandchildren, Averie Claire Collins and Jackson Wade Collins.

He is also survived by his Godson, Roger (Maureen) Skurski, his nephew Jim (Liz) Dombkowski, his niece JoAnn Skurski Carey, his niece Linda (Mike) Mueller and several cousins. In the later years since his wife’s death, Chet was a “snowbird” spending his winters in Fort Pierce, FL. There will be a small memorial at the Spanish Lakes Country Club Auditorium in Fort Pierce, FL, on Saturday, February 2, at noon.

A funeral mass and burial will be held in Rochester, NY in August 2019. Further details will be provided as soon as plans have been finalized. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fisher House Foundation, 12300 Twinbrook Pkwy, Suite 410 Rockville, MD 20852 or www.
