Chester (Czeslaw) Lobrow passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Chester was born on July 20, 1944 in the town of Szczuczyn to Mikolaj and Salomea Lobrow. He completed his education in Bialystok, Poland and studied business and food processing technology.

During his studies he met his future wife Jadwiga Jablonska, whom he married on October 3, 1964. Upon arriving in the United States in 1979 he continued his education and became an alumnus of Union County College in 1983 and since 2001 had served on the Union County College Foundation Board and its budget and finance committees. Mr. Lobrow was the owner of Severyn Fur Salon in Linden, NJ which he and his wife developed into the largest fur company on the East Coast.

Chester received the Pride of Polonia Award for his unique contributions to the Polish community and for this philanthropic activites. Chester’s volunteerism and philanthropy included serving on the boards of organization, civic groups, such as the John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, DC, and the International Order of Smile, an organization composed of children who represent over 30 countries. He received recognition numerous times for his civic involvement from the City Of Linden, New Jersey State Assembly and Senate, New York City and New York State.

He was the 1999 Grand Marshal of the Pulaski Day Parade in New York City and named Citizen of the Year by the Polish American World Publication in 2000. In 2003, he was awarded the Cavalier Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland and the medal of the Order of Smile. Mr. Lobrow was the beloved husband for 53 years of Jadwiga (Jablonska) Lobrow, devoted father of Albert & his wife Marzena, Janusz and his wife Anna, Tom and his wife Ania, Mark and his wife Agnieszka, & Jerry and his wife Beata, loving brother of Richard Lobrow, Regina Dzierlatko, Eugeniusz, Andrzej, & the late Jerzy Lobrow and cherished grandfather of Joanna, Jakub, Alexander, Olivia, Maximillian, Victoria, Julia, & Nicholas.

Relative and friends are invited to the viewing on Wednesday, September 19th at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 E. St. George Avenue, Linden, N.J. 07036. Visiting hours are from 3PM – 8PM. The funeral is on Thursday, September 20th at 9:00AM at the Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home.

The funeral mass will be held at St. Theresa Of The Child Jesus Church, Linden at 10:00AM. Interment will be at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
