Chimako (Sue) Sato Barkie was born March 27, 1932 in Fukushima Ken, Japan and died May 12, 2019 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital from congestive heart failure and kidney disease. Preceded in death by her husband Andrew in 1999; sons, Michael in 1983; Christopher in 1960; and sisters-in-law, Irene and Velma Barkie.

She is survived by her children, Irena (Duane) McCoy, Kathy (Tom) Morris, Timothy Barkie, and Christine (Thom) Jones; grandchildren, Lindsey and Katie McCoy, Matthew Barkie and Meghan Morris; great grandchildren, Evan, Carson and Brianna; sister-in-law, Rose (Doug) McCutcheon and several nieces and nephews and family pets, Tiny and Cosmo. She retired in 1993 from Lucent Technologies (AT&T). After becoming a widow in 1999; she lived with her daughter Irena and family.

Sue enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, fishing, playing cards and Yahtzee, as well as playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent her life giving, never asking for anything in return. She was a 28 year colon cancer survivor.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her. A special thank you to Dr. Paul Kovach, her long time nephrologist for his excellent care and compassion and the wonderful nurses and support staff of Mt. Carmel East.

Also a special thank you to Dr. Karamjit Khanduja who performed her cancer surgery in 1991. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 16 from 5 to 8 pm at O. R. Woodyard South Chapel 1346 S. High St. where funeral service will be held Friday at 1 pm. Interment Greenlawn Cemetery.
